Overview
Concept
Luma South is a 19 story new construction building in the South Park neighborhood of Los Angeles. The striking building, consists of mostly glass and steel and looks like the bigger sister of Elleven South, it's equally green next door neighbor. Luma has achieved LEED certification due to several carefully planned green building practices. The extremely walkable location of the building also contributes to it's eco-friendly reputation.
Several steps were taken to ensure LEED Certification for Luma. Some of the green building features include:
- Many sustainable and recycled materials used for building construction
- Water reduction strategies employed throughout the building
- Passive solar design, with floor to ceiling windows with large shades
- Use of Low VOC paints and finishes
- Energy efficient lighting utilized throughout the building
Building amenities include extensive outdoor courtyard which will provide residents with impressive views of the city. A lap pool, barbecue area, and outdoor fireplace are also available for residents use.
Neighborhood
Luma is a part of several new construction high rise buildings being built in the South Park neighborhood. Many are referring to the area around Luna simply as "South". The location puts residents within just a few blocks of sports facilities, business districts, shopping, entertainment, and fine dining. Homes
Units range in size from just under 900 square feet to over 3,500 square feet. The lofts feature exposed concrete beams and wall to wall hardwood floors. All lofts come with a very high level of interior finishes, from European inspired kitchens, to spacious and modern living spaces and bathrooms. Green finishes are also used throughout the units.
Views of the surrounding downtown areas and distant mountains are very impressive. Residents can enjoy their views either through their floor to ceiling windows, or on their personal outdoor patio.
Transportation
There is plenty of public transportation around Luma. Bus stops are on nearly ever corner and the Metro light rail is just 2 blocks away. The building does have parking and easy access to the 110 and 10 for those who drive. The area boasts an impressive Walk Score of 91, meaning that just about all conveniences from cafes, to grocery stores are within a short walk.
