Overview
Concept
Geos has fully embraced the concept of geothermal technology to create a very unique community in Arvada, Colorado. The community aims to be the first fossil fuel free development in the United States, employing proven strategies which have been used in Europe for years.
Homes will incorporate passive solar design to maximize energy gain and retention from the sun. Homes will be insulated well above standards and have features like mobile insulation for windows which are designed to let heat in only when its needed. When cooling is needed, earth tubes will work to cool the air to 60 degrees and pump it into the home. In addition, all homes will have photovoltaic panels which will power all electrical equipment in the homes. All of these features combine to mean that no resident will ever receive an energy bill.
Neighborhood
Geos will feature four neighborhoods of distinctive home types. The principals of new urbanism are very evident throughout the community. Each neighborhood will have common areas for neighbors to gather and some will feature shops and community oriented facilities. A network of plazas, parks and trails connects the neighborhoods throughout the community. The idea is to get neighbors outside, enjoying nature and each others company as much as possible.
Homes
There will be several home types and sizes offered at Geos. Single level flats, multi level condos, live/work townhomes and single family homes make up the majority of the styles. Home sizes vary from 850 to 3,500+ square feet and start in the low $200,000's.
Homes will provide abundant sunlight and some will offer beautiful views of the surrounding mountains, prairies and landscapes. All homes employ the great energy saving features mentioned above. All of the systems are built to be extremely low maintenance.

Transportation
Geos is located centrally between Golden, Boulder and Denver. Each city is between a 10 and 20 minute car ride away. Geos is located on the Ralston Creek Trail, part of the Denver Regional Bike Trail System. The community is located along a public transportation route.
Other nearby features include the West Woods Golf Club, which is walking distance away. Major groceries, retail and restaurants are just 4 blocks from the property.
