Concept
RiverClay is Colorado's first certified LEED-Silver residential condominium building. The sixty unit building seeks to embrace an active lifestyle by offering mean onsite amenities and a location that cant be beat.   Within the building is a fitness center, a dirty dog spray down area, and a large bike storage and maintenance room.
 
RiverClay was awarded the title of "Condo Project of The Year" in 2008 at the Rocky Mountain Commercial Real Estate Expo.   Part of the recognition is due to the green features that the building offers. The largest feature is a solar array located on the roof of the project, which provides enough power to light, heat, and cool 80% of the buildings common areas.   Other green features include:
  • A Highly insulated exterior envelope
  • Locally sourced and highly renewable materials used to construct the building
  • A building wide recycling program
 
Neighborhood
The location of RiverClay couldn’t be better. Next to the building is a beautiful 7 acre park which is a popular recreation spot for the neighborhood. Within easy walking distance are many amenities including bike trains and public transportation, The Denver Aquarium, Invesco Field at Mile High, and plenty of shopping.   
 
Homes
RiverClay offers sixty condos that range from 795 to 1,882 square feet.   Units feature large balconies that act as both outdoor space and solar shade for the interior space.    Interiors are laid out nicely, with open living spaces which are designed to encourage social interaction.   Kitchens are "European style" and include a 5 burner gas stove. From the balconies, residents enjoy great views of downtown Denver and the mountains.
 
Green interior features include:
  • Use of produces with low VOCs to increase indoor air quality
  • Sustainable hardwood flooring
  • High performance heating and cooling systems
 
Units are approximately 30% more energy efficient than comparable non-LEED condos.
 
Transportation
 
The location of RiverClay was chosen due to a focus on easy access to transportation . Mass transit in the form of busses and light rail are nearby. The building also has bicycle storage and maintenance facilities.   Downtown Denver is just about 3 miles away.
