Concept
Lakewood Ranch is the largest green master-planned community in the United States. It is located just outside of Sarasota, Florida, a first class community known for its white beaches and wonderful weather. The seven neighborhoods which make up Lakewood Ranch span over 8,500 acres and include a very large amount of dedicated park and recreation space. Lakewood Ranch is currently building all of its neighborhoods as Florida Green Building Coalition Certified.

Lakewood Ranch aims to offer a lifestyle which is unparalleled anywhere else in Florida. The location of the community puts residents just a few minutes from the beautiful beaches of Sarasota and world class shopping and entertainment all around the Sarasota bay. Within the community there are too many recreational amenities to list.   Some of the more popular include:
  • 3 - 18-Hole Golf courses, one of which is a member of the Audubon Sanctuary Program
  • 150+ miles of walking and biking trails
  • 18 tennis courts
  • A large athletic center offering dozens of classes
  • 9 world class polo fields

There are eight shopping districts within the community where one will be able to quickly and conveniently take care of all of their needs. From daily tasks like running to the grocery store, dry cleaner, or post office, to more special trips like shopping at a boutique or dining at a fine restaurant, it is all available at Lakewood Ranch.

Throughout the year there are events and festivals which encourage social interaction and promote a strong sense of community. There are music festivals, wine festivals, outdoor art fairs and even pet parades.   Lakewood Ranch is a community that realizes that one of the greenest things you can do is encourage people to come outdoors and enjoy nature.

Speaking of nature, the community has a strong commitment to preserving the land on which it sits. There are natural animal habitats throughout the community which make spotting a deer, otter, or crane a common occurrence. Paths weave throughout the community, making sure not to disturb any natural habitats.   All of the trees and plants on the property are also indigenous to the land.

Neighborhoods
Lakewood Ranch is separated into 7 villages, which are separated generally on home style and price. Some villages are oriented towards golf or country club style living, while others promote a sense of community with multiple shared parks and public pools.

Each village enjoys access to a unique set of amenities and all villages have access to the top rated schools which are located within the community.   Health care facilities, day care centers, and entertainment facilities are also available to the entire community. For those looking for a job the community employs 12,000 people.

At the center of the community is Main Street which has a great small town feel and is always buzzing with activity. Many large community activities take place at Main Street including: holiday parades, farmers markets, and "Music on Main" - a popular outdoor music festival which takes place the first Friday of every month.

Homes
Homes at Lakewood Ranch vary greatly in size and price.   Homes range in size from approximately 1,500 to 10,000+ square feet and go from the lower $200,000s to $5 Million+.    Townhomes, villas, and single family homes are all available.

At Lakewood Ranch there are ten builders to choose from and each uses different green building techniques and finishes. Homes are built to Florida Green Building Coalition standards which means they may embrace many eco-friendly technologies including high efficiency HVAC systems, high efficiency windows, sustainable interior finishes, use of low VOC paints, and many more. For a listing of green homes for sale please use the buttons towards to top of the page to request free listings!

Transportation
Getting to Lakewood Ranch is quite easy. The community is located just off of I-75 and is easily accessible by several major airports including: Tampa, St. Petersburg, Sarasota, Ft. Meyers, and Naples.

Downtown Sarasota is about 7 miles away and would most likely be travelled via automobile as public transportation in the area is limited. Of course walking and biking are great ways to get around within the community! Request a free brochure or listings about Lakewood Ranch today.
