Concept
Clarks Grove is an environmentally friendly community of 300 homes located in Covington, GA, about 35 miles outside of Atlanta.   The community, which cover 90 acres of land, is designed following the principals of a Traditional Neighborhood Development. These neighborhoods generally resemble those of the early twentieth century, with walkable sidewalks, interesting homes, and a diverse population.   The development will also provide:
  • Narrow streets and rear loading garages - limits traffic buildup and is more attractive
  • Front porches and homes closer to the street - makes socializing more natural
  • Wide sidewalks which lead to parks and community spaces
  • Street trees and lighted avenues - makes walking more enjoyable and safer
  • A variety of home types and architectural styles

The developers of Clarks Grove understand that being green is as much about using the right materials as it is about using the right neighborhood design. That is why, in addition to each home being built in accordance with EarthCraft standards, they are also intelligently designed, to be walking distance from important neighborhood amenities.

Neighborhood
Living at Clarks Grove will remind many of the small towns which were built before WWII. In the center of the community is a large green space and shopping center, which is within walking distance from every home.   There is also a baseball field, a playground, and a community pool for everyone to enjoy. The outskirts of the community are occupied by green space, which provides privacy for residents and gives the community a quaint feel.

Next to Clarks Grove is Turner Lake Park, a 160 acre recreation facility, which offers 4 miles nature trails and many athletic amenities. Great schools are nearby and there is a Montessori school on premises.

Homes
Clarks Grove offers several types of different homes for sale and for rent. Home styles include carriage homes, cottages, live/work homes, single family attached, and single family detached homes. Prices start in the $160,000 range and go up to over $500,000. Square footage varies from 1,200 to 3,000+ square feet.

Homes at Clarks Grove are built to the standards of the EarthCraft Building Program. There are several different builders and home styles, so it isn't possible to outline specific green materials used, however, the EarthCraft Building Program standards include:
  • Energy efficient systems
  • High indoor air quality
  • Resource efficiency building materials
  • Water conservation

Transportation
Located 1 mile off of 1-20 in the Covington, GA. The I-285 perimeter is about 25 miles away, while downtown Atlanta is 35 miles. Downtown Covington is a short walk or bike ride away. The town offers shops, restaurants, and beautiful tree lined streets. Public Transportation is limited in the area.
