Texas - Green Homes For Sale
Texas has seen an explosion in green homes for sale in the recent years. Dozens of projects, both small and large, have popped up around the Austin and Houston areas. Some of the projects are infill, like Mueller, which is built on top of an old airport in Austin. Others are new construction like Enclave at Lake Pointeand Discovery at Spring Trails in suburban Houston.
No one green certification has caught on as the leader in Texas. Some of the eco-friendly communities are opting for LEED Certification, while others are offering homes which are built to the new National Association of Homebuilders Green Certification (NAHB Green). There are even a few communities which have achieved the Energy Star® and the local Austin Green Building certifications.
